Embracing new business opportunities
In the late 1980s, as the Showa era came to a close, Shinmei Industries was primarily focused on its main business of producing conveyors that connect machines inside factories. However, the company quickly recognized the growing demand for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) that allow flexible layout changes and automated warehouses that save storage space. Shinmei Industries promptly began developing these products, driven by its corporate culture of speed and a pioneering spirit to meet customer expectations. By quickly responding to customer needs and not limiting ourself to existing businesses, we successfully automated many of the logistics within factories, from the entrance to the exit. This development laid the foundation for a factory automation (FA) system that automates all logistics processes within factories.
The FA system is a business that develops and designs products that can automate the entire process from the entrance to the exit of the factory. We incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as autonomous driving and image processing into product development, and customize the system to customer needs.
Shinmei develops products to automate logistics and streamline operations, with the goal of reducing the need for manual labor. This technology is essential for Japan, where labor shortages are becoming increasingly severe.
Shinmei provides system-based logistics optimization. Our system manages multiple automated processes in a centralized manner, enabling highly efficient logistics
We modify existing manned forklifts to automatically load and unload pallets.
We modify existing manned trucks to automatically transport heavy cargo
We modify existing manned tugger vehicles to automatically transport carts
In collaboration with the autonomous towing vehicle, this system automatically transfers pallets.
Talbot maneuvers around workers and operates dollies automatically.
This robot picks up and reloads a wide variety of container boxes in multiple levels.
The machine turns the wheels of the vehicles and conveys vehicles automatically in place of conveyors.
It lifts the tires and automatically transports finished vehicles.
It lifts vehicles and automatically transfers finished vehicles within the yard.
This vehicle automatically follows the vehicle in front of it, providing an easy and safe autonomous driving experience.
The Integrated Control System is capable of recognizing vehicles with sensors installed above, allowing for flexible transfer of goods along the conveyor system.
Our operations management system enables the centralized management of multiple vehicles, ensuring efficient logistics.
The goal of the FA system is to contribute to the overall improvement of Japan's manufacturing industry. To achieve this, it is necessary to take charge of the entire process from parts acceptance to product completion, and further streamline logistics within Toyota factories. The next step is to share the knowledge of automation and labor-saving technology acquired in the process with other manufacturing industries, while also integrating new expertise gained from them back into Toyota. Through these cycles, we aim to concretize Shinmei as a central presence in the manufacturing industry.
